Trolling for a compliment, instigating an argument, hovering in someone’s space, or hoping for a response that meets some emotional need are all types of emotional fishing. You launch a comment or physical gesture to see if you can elicit the response your want. It’s clever and a really unhealthy way to get your needs met (and, in the end, doesn’t really work).
